Birmingham Bullring

Yesterday my brother and I went to the Bullring in Birmingham for a little retail therapy, emphasis on the "little" because I actually didn't buy much. Yay, self-restraint! Well, that combined with the fact that I didn't really see many things I liked, which is kind of disappointing because I didn't come home with bags of shopping but it's probably better because I've saved myself some money. Apologies in advance for the meagre supply of photos but I was kind of too busy shopping.

I've seen bubble tea in so many cities and have wanted to try it for ages so when we came across the Moocha bubble tea stall today, I insisted that we both try one. I had a milk strawberry one without tea and with yoghurt-flavoured popping bubbles which was really nice but very sweet. (I hope that didn't count as breaking my Lent! It probably did, fail.) Jack had a white peach one with no tea and aloe vera jelly which was nice too.

My sunglasses are probably having a whale of a time in the Pacific Ocean right now (haha I just thought that was punny because whales are in the ocean.. at least I make myself laugh) because I lost them in the sea when I was in Santa Monica. You think I'd have learnt my lesson when the same thing happened to me in Crete last summer but apparently not.. So anyway, because my eyes are ridiculously sensitive to the sun, I got some new sunglasses in Topshop. I can't find my exact ones on the website but I think it's these ones except mine are tortoiseshell brown instead of black. Not a very exciting purchase because they're pretty much the same as my old ones but I really needed some! I've noticed that there's a gold bit missing from one side so I'm trying to decide whether I care enough to return them.. I probably should but my local Topshop is tiny so it doesn't even sell these so returning them will be effort. I've spared you a selfie because I am hideously unphotogenic but I'm sure you will see them in one of my later posts.

All good bloggers seem to have scented candles in their rooms so they've inspired me to get one for mine.. I've always used one of The Body Shop's oil burners but quite frankly, it is too much faff. I do really like their home fragrances though so I got one I'd never tried before in candle form which is the Jasmine and White Frangipani Scented Candle. People seem to spend a bomb.com on candles so I thought this was very reasonably priced and it smells nice and floral, too. I don't know what I was saying about having self-restraint earlier because I burned the candle last night before writing this post so it doesn't have a pretty white wick any more, sorry..

After we were all shopped out, we met our mum at the YO! Sushi in Selfridges for an early dinner. It was Blue Monday which is where all of their dishes on a blue plate are like £2.40 so Monday's a good day to go. I tried to take a picture but a waiter wasn't too cool with me doing that so it came out too blurry to put in this post. Lack of photo aside, the food was amazing, as usual. To make up for not having a photo from YO! Sushi, here is a generic photo of the bull made out of jelly beans in the Selfridges in the Bullring. I hope this will placate you somewhat.

I am so glad it's half term! Jack and I are going to see Wreck-It Ralph tomorrow, even though we will raise the average age of everyone else going to see it haha.

What have you been up to recently?
